I was born in Cametá, a small town in the state of Pará, Brazil, on February
23, 1935. My family moved in 1944 for Abaetetuba, other small town of the same
state, and in 1952 when doing the military service was transferred to Rio de
In the present time I am professor of Mechanical Engineering im my country, very
much interested in exchange educational experience with other educators in such
field of engineering in the world.
More specifically, I am professor at Departmente of Mechanical Engineering of
the UNIVERSIDADE SANTA ÚRSULA, a traditional education Catholic institution in
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
My primary studies were made in Grupo Escolar Dom Romualdo de Seixas at Cametá
and Grupo Escolar de Abaetetuba, and my High School in the Colegio Dom Pedro II,
and Colegio do Instituto Rossio, both in Rio de Janeiro.
I am graduate in Physics from 1963, by Universidade do Estado da Guanabara,
current Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, and graduate Mechanical
Engineer from 1965, by Escola de Engenharia da Universidade Federal Fluminense,
both in Brazil. My post gradute were made in Mechanical Engineering, 1975,
Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and Geophysics, 1978, Instituto de
Geociências da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
All my studies, starting from the high school, they were financed by the wage
that I won when made the military service in Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais (Brazilian
Marines Corp). Never received any aids of who wants that is for my study. I am a
man that was educated and formed by myself. I am a self made man. Since 16 years
of age all actions of my life, right or wrong, they were of my responsability.
My professional experience: I went teacher in numerous secondary schools in Rio

industrial products too. A mechanical engineer usually has specialized knowledge
in areas such as thermodynamics, control systems, materials, fluid dynamics,
manufacturing methods, environment problems, and human factors.
As applications of mechanical engineering aim design of machines used in the
manufacturing and processing industries, mechanical components of electronic and
computers, components and vehicles for land, sea, air, and space, and artificial
components for human body.
Mechanical engineers work throughout the engineering community as individual
consultants in small firms providing specialized products or services, in
engineering and management in large corporation, and government agencies. A
mechanical engineer with spacialization in power systems and thermal design is
concerned with energy utilization and thernal environment control (engines,
turbines, power plants) and their components is a major activity.
Thermal environment control requires the design of thermal control systems
having heat eschange, heat pumps, heat pipes, and ablation heat shields.
Cryogenics, vacuum thecnology, and solar thermal energy are ither areas in which
